Understanding the Client's Requirements

A customer required a continuous plastic profile for use as a structural and protective component in industrial equipment. The profile needed to match the customer's assembly structure while maintaining consistent geometry over continuous production lengths. Based on the customer's drawing and application requirements, OKAWA evaluated the profile geometry, material selection and extrusion feasibility before tooling and sample development.

How We Engineered the Answer

OKAWA reviewed the customer's drawing and application requirements before tooling development. The profile geometry and material selection were evaluated for extrusion feasibility, with particular attention to critical dimensions and areas susceptible to deformation. A dedicated extrusion die and sizing approach were developed for the profile. Trial samples were produced for dimensional and assembly verification, followed by process adjustment to establish stable production conditions. After extrusion, the profiles could be cut to the required length and combined with additional secondary operations according to the customer's final assembly requirements.
